U.S. home sales up in July
Sales of U.S. homes rose 3.1 percent last month to their highest levels since February, as a third of homes sold were foreclosed, according to the National Association of Realtors. Distressed sales were pushing home values down: used homes' prices were 7.1 percent lower in July than a year ago. Sales were up 5.9 percent in the Northeast.
