Fans pay more for NYC's new sports stadiums
The three new stadiums being built for the Yankees, Mets, Giants and Jets will have larger concourses, more bathrooms, better sightlines and architecture, but fans are worried about the increased ticket prices during an economic downturn. The most expensive tickets at the new $1.3 billion Yankee stadium will jump from $1,000 to $2,500; the highest ticket price at the $800 million Mets Citi Field will increase from $276 to $495; and at the $1.6 billion Jets-Giants stadium, personal seat licenses will cost between $1,000 and $20,000.

As a free market capitalist (and a former Yankee season ticket holder) I can't believe we are giving the Yankees money to build a stadium so they can sell seats to rich people. If they can't make money with a new stadium then they shouldn't build it. We shouldn't have tax payers footing the bill for this.
The argument that they would move to a different city is bogus (even considering the Dodgers). The Yankees make their money from TV ad revenue, they could never find another similar market. It's nonsense that we allow our government to play favorites. If you want to attract business to the city then lower the corporate tax rate for all. Don't give handouts to the few well connected companies like the Yankees, Goldman etc.
