Dispute erupts over Elliman awards

By Lauren Elkies

Broker Jacky Teplitzky says she is upset about not receiving a top sales person award today at the annual Prudential Douglas Elliman awards. Dolly Lenz was named the top individual seller.

Teplitzky, an executive vice president at Elliman, said that unlike in years past, the brokerage did not hand out a single award for the top seller.

"I feel the rules were changed in the middle of the game," Teplitzky said.

When asked whether she planned to leave Elliman, Teplitzky said she wouldn't comment.

An Elliman spokeswoman, Barbara Wagner, did not indicate why an overall award for the top broker was not given this year.

Teplitzky won the top team category by gross commission income, or GCI. She said she is proud of her and her teams' achievement, but said that rather than separate brokers into two award categories -- groups and individuals -- she should have been made overall "No. 1, period."

"I think this is a great company. This is the largest company. This is a very powerful company. But you have to fight for what is right," she said.

Lenz, an Elliman vice chairman, told The Real Deal yesterday that when it comes to individual sales performance, just like every year "there's nobody close" to her in 2007.

Regarding Teplitzky, Lenz added: "Jackie Teplitzky is not even in the same category."

Everyone knows that Dolly makes up her numbers, but the rule of the game is to have her as number one every year. That's why Shvo left the company in 2003. Good for you Jacky T, don't take any crap.

Dolly is such a sore loser, let's face it, every dog has it's day. Good for you Jacky!

Dolly came late so as to avoid embarrassment for not being the true #1 broker this year. The rankings changed so as to disguise the fact that she did not earn enough to be #1. Finally, the truth can be told.

I would think Dolly came late as she is so used to being #1 - and has work to do - other than sending out misleading press releases.

Be happy with #1 team; you'll never be #1 individually

Those of you rooting for Teplitzky have obviously never dealt with her

Shvo left the company because he've got kicked out. Everyone knows what he has done. No one wants to do deal with him and his company now.

If it weren't for the name Douglas Elliman who has every customer or seller fooled, they would all be waiting tables at Elaines.

Jacky comes from nowhere and when you come from nowhere, it's hard to get somewhere. Her husband is so elegant and sophisticated and she's a small town girl AND IT SHOWS! even though she's trying to pretent that she's wearing designer clothes and so on

If it weren't for the names Douglas Elliman, BHS, etc...They would all be waiting table at Elaines, or Hooters. Even though Michael Shvo is an A-Hole, he at least showed everyone that he can do it on hi own without the big name. Pretty soon when the sand is wiped from buyers eyes, the true situation will emerge, you've been conned foo...

Come on everyone. I want everyone to go to their window, open it up and yell. "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore". Then jump.

I was at PDE for less than a year. I would like to say that as a staff member with the firm, the Jacky Teplitzky Team (and a handful of other teams) always impressed me. Jacky is an amazing broker and leader in the industry that continually gives back. Every person on her team is “on the ball”, pleasant, gracious, excels with execution and extremely knowledgeable – a true testament of leadership. So many agents in the city dream about having a “group” because it is a status symbol and adds to their GCI. Very few agents know how to cultivate and enhance the individuals in their “group” like Jacky. For an individual that started with nothing (as posted by “anonymous”), she really has inspired and helped many people –outside of her client base.
Unfortunately, business is not fair…it is how we handle the unmerited experience that makes one Great.

There have always been concerns with the top ten brokers at both Corcoran and Elliman as to who achieves the highest revenue. They split it into groups and individuals for this reason. Jacky is definitely the leader of a group, while Dolly is on her own (I'm sure she has lots of people behind her, but I haven't met them). I personally love Jacky. Who doesn't, but I think this was done fairly.

does Heather Bise want to get back to Elliman or to hmmm...the Jacky Teplitzky team????
It's amazing how the company was pumping Heather and then puff, she's gone where? who cares?

The bottom line is Teplitzky runs an assembly line that deals largely in tacky, mid-level schlock. Most A-list Park Avenue, Soho and Tribeca brokers would have no idea who she is. Lenz on the other hand covers the spectrum with more than her share of high end luxury propeties that Teplitzky can only dream of representing
