Massey Knakal chairman buys 45 Park Ave. condo

Robert Knakal, chairman of Massey Knakal Realty Services, has purchased a condo at 45 Park Avenue for $3.75 million with his wife Cynthia, according to public records posted today. The 22-story, 105-unit tower in Murray Hill was built by SJP Residential Properties at the former site of the Sheraton Russell hotel on 37th street and Park Avenue. Knakal, according to the firm's website, has brokered the sale of 850 buildings worth over $3.35 billion.

Knakal said he already lives in the neighborhood, and would keep his commute by foot to six minutes. "We wanted something new in that neighborhood, and there's not a lot of new development in the area," he said. "This was built well. There's a lot that was unique about it." As one of the first buyers, Knakal said he snagged one of the building's few outdoor terraces. The street-level garage provides direct access to the lobby, he said.
