$80 million listing at 15CPW
A penthouse duplex at 15 Central Park West is on the market for $80 million, $58.5 million more than what the seller paid about two months ago.
Penthouse 40B, which is 5,276 square feet, has nine and a half rooms, including four bedrooms, five-plus bathrooms and a library, according to Richard Wallgren and Marlene Marcus's listing on the Brown Harris Stevens Web site. The common charges are $5,425.
The apartment, which features a wood burning fireplace, was purchased for $21.5 million, according to city records posted May 5, by Prominence Corp., a financial consulting business.
There are nine active sales listings and seven listings are in contract at the trophy towers, along with 13 active rental listings, according to StreetEasy.com.
The most expensive sale to close so far at the building is hedge fund manager Daniel S. Loeb's penthouse 39 for $45 million.
Prudential Douglas Elliman superbroker Dolly Lenz said at a forum hosted by Conde Nast Portfolio last month that several units were selling at 15 Central Park West for more than $80 million, including one being marketed quietly for up to $150 million. Some real estate experts are skeptical of the high asking prices.
